The Jovani showroom is excitedly buzzing about the Met Gala this Monday! This year’s costume exhibit is titled “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” in honor of Lagerfeld’s lifetime of incredible contributions and devotion to the fashion industry. Our Design Director, Julie Durocher, shares her predictions for Jovani styles that she expects to see some of the biggest stars wearing Monday night on the iconic Met steps!
We know all eyes will be on Hailey Beiber and Selena Gomez, who are both rumored to be in attendance despite their recent drama, so we can count on them dressing to impress. For Haliey, Julie predicts a sexy black beaded lace gown with long, feather-trimmed sleeves (09881) or a plunging V-neck beaded bodysuit with a beaded floor-length cape (23650), if she opts for an edgier look. For Selena, she predicts a tiered look- maybe an elegant, silver beaded column gown (36816) or a dramatic black, embellished sweetheart neckline ball gown (22226).
Another face we’re excited to see on the Met steps this year is Penelope Cruz. It’s well known that she was Karl’s muse, so we can expect her to pay tribute to him in a look that captures his signature style. For Penelope, Julie predicts a classic black and white ensemble, perhaps a strapless striped ball gown (23728) or a timeless black fit and flare with white pearls embellishing the neckline (JB07135) to reference Karl’s work for Chanel.
It’s not yet confirmed whether or not Beyonce will show up, but if she does, it’ll be her first Met Gala since 2016, so she’s bound to be a showstopper! From her past red carpet appearances, we know she tends to favor a sexy, sheer, beaded look, so Julie predicts she’ll revive her signature style in an ombre crystal beaded gown with dramatic feather sleeves and an open back (22848).
Blake Lively tops the best-dressed list every Met Gala season, always managing to curate a look just as extravagant as it is perfectly on theme! We’re excited to see how she honors Karl and celebrates the new exhibit. Julie predicts she’ll add a pop of color to a sea of black and white this Monday in a stunning fuchsia taffeta gown with asymmetric puff sleeves and beaded embellishments (36872).
Dua Lipa will surely draw attention as a host of this year’s Met Gala! She and her co-chairs set the tone for the entire evening, so she’ll be one to watch. Julie thinks she may stray from her usual fitted and bodycon red carpet looks and opt for a beautiful ball gown with a sheer, beaded bodice and feathers that will turn heads on the Met steps (24255)!
